A Great Way to Spend a Day

The Spots v Stripes Community Games aims to get millions of people across the UK and Ireland playing games by London 2012. Games can act as a catalyst to help bring the community together in the spirit of play. As part of this, Groundwork, is recruiting 2000 volunteers across the country. To date programme has encouraged nearly 36,000 people to play games at over 644 Spots v Stripes community events across the UK and Ireland. We’d like to invite you to be part of it.

We have arranged a host of games events in Wandsworth: these range from an inter-pub tug of war event to a Caribbean Dance challenge to community festivals and fun days. We need help from volunteers like you to make these events happen. We send all volunteers a monthly list of all our events and you simply let us know when and where you want to help. Once you’ve got a feel for the program, there might also be the possibility to start contributing to the planning of events. Whether you are interested in media and communications or in event management we’ll tailor your volunteer placement to suit your interests The project will be running until summer 2012, but you can volunteer for as long or as little as you like, starting immediately or at a time to suit you. You’ll be given full support by Groundwork staff and you’ll receive on the job training and potentially qualifications

If you want to be involved or would like more information, simply contact me at giovanna.speciale@groundwork.org.uk. I’ll then send you an application form and a list of all our current events. Simply fill out the form, let us know when you want to start, then all that’s left to do is to have fun and gain some new skills!
