This years' Summer Party will raise funds for St George's Neonatal Unit which makes it very local and very appropriate. We are looking for volunteers of all ages (from 16 and above). The event runs from 11am to 5pm but with such a big event (we are hoping for 2,000 this year), there is lots to do.

Volunteers needed for Hampton Court Reuse Scheme

Groundwork London is seeking an army of volunteers to assist with a reuse scheme during the breakdown of the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show from Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 July.

Following the flower show that ended on 8 July, Groundwork needs volunteers to collect thousands of plants and up to 100 tonnes of material.

Local residents took to the streets on Saturday 30th June to give it a spring clean before the Olympic Cycling event later this month.

As part of the P&G Capital Clean Up, household favourite Ariel detergent will help make five London boroughs 'stainless' this summer, and asked Londoners to vote for their most deserving borough.

It was a hard fought battle, but the five boroughs with the highest votes were Ealing, Wandsworth, Haringey, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.

Changes to criminal records checks and barring arrangements

As a result of the Protection of Freedoms Act there will be changes to the criminal records and barring systems. This will have an impact on organisations that work with children, young people and vulnerable adults or conduct CRB checks. Although these changes are not yet in force and the full detail is not yet available, we are aware that there is a demand for information. As part of the Department for Education?s Overarching Strategic Partnership, NAVCA has therefore produced an interim briefing which outlines the main direction of the changes and the issues that are likely to arise.

Volunteering Wandsworth launches new recognition scheme!

Volunteering Wandsworth has this week launched a new recognition scheme in the London Borough of Wandsworth to reward volunteers for their service. The new initiative will be launched during Volunteers’ Week that runs from 1 – 7 June 2012. From 1 June, volunteers who give over 25 hours of their time will be sent a certificate in recognition of the time that they have donated. Additionally, anyone who volunteers for over 60 hours in 2012 will be awarded a special Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year certificate.
