- Do you support families affected by imprisonment?
- Do you want to learn more about how imprisonment can impact on families?
- Do you want to know more about the key workings of the prison system and how to identify the wishes and support needs of prisoners’ children and families?
200,000 children have a parent in prison each year. Children of prisoners are three times more likely as their peers to sufferfrom mental health problems and three times more likely to develop anti social behaviour. However, they are an invisible group as parental imprisonment does not trigger an automatic needs assessment.
‘Hidden Sentence’ is a one day training course for any employees and volunteers working with families who may be affected by imprisonment. It gives a clear overview of the issues facing prisoners families and provides a range of strategies and resources to help you support them.
