Volunteers needed for Hampton Court Reuse Scheme
Groundwork London is seeking an army of volunteers to assist with a reuse scheme during the breakdown of the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show from Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 July.
Following the flower show that ended on 8 July, Groundwork needs volunteers to collect thousands of plants and up to 100 tonnes of material.
The recycled materials will be distributed by Groundwork to community gardening projects across London.
Groundwork is already being supported in this project by vehicles from Quadron Services and lorries from DHL.
In June, Groundwork ran the reuse scheme at Chelsea Flower Show, moving approximately 350 tonnes and 8000 plants from the show ground over a five day period.
The produce went to East London, where it is being distributed across Transform projects. Over the half of the material is being used on a project in Canning Town to landscape a meanwhile site and turn it into an open air market open during the Olympics. This scheme was supported nearly hundred volunteers and free provision of trucks and drivers by FM Conway.
Anyone able to give up some of their time to help recycle materials should contact Agata at Groundwork London on 020 7239 1387.
