Opportunity of the Week @ Ickles Pickles Children's Charity

This week's featured volunteer opportunity is:

Family Day on Tooting Common, The Ickles Pickles Children's Charity

The Ickle Pickles raise funds for sick & premature babies & buy life saving equipment for Neonatal units.

Our Summer Party on Sunday 2nd September is a huge fundraising event for all the family & is lots of fun. This year is our 4th and will be the biggest yet with fabulous food, giant inflatables, funfair rides, Punch & Judy shows, live music, kids entertainers, face painting, Medieval Stocks & lots of stalls. We are being sponsored and supported by lots of local businesses & entertainers & the past 3 years have been fantastic & lots of fun for volunteers & the people who have attended. This years' Summer Party will raise funds for St George's Neonatal Unit which makes it very local and very appropriate. We are looking for volunteers of all ages (from 16 and above). The event runs from 11am to 5pm but with such a big event (we are hoping for 2,000 this year), there is lots to do.

The shift options are:

  1. Early set up - From 7am (!) to 11am - helping set up stalls, putting up signs, putting up gazebos, handing out flyers in the local park
  2. Party Assistance (start) - 11am to 2.30pm
  3. Party Assistance (late) - 2.30pm to 5.30pm
  4. Tidy up - 5.00pm to 6.30pm

Volunteers are welcome to select a shift (the earlier you request a certain shift the more chance you have of getting it) and jobs will vary from set up to collecting money on a ride, running the Stocks (always popular), handing out flyers, running the Toy Tombola, running the Raffle, helping tidy up. The list is endless but fun!

Skills & Qualifications Required

No set skills required, just a 'can do' attitude, enthusiasm & a willingness to help and be flexible so if help is needed elsewhere they are happy to assist.

A definite sense of being involved in making a difference, the volunteers would also be part of a big team helping to generate brand awareness for the charity and this would help to increase the support of the charity locally which is really important to us.
