Employment & Skills Training Project Assistant, Groundwork London

Opportunity Description

Groundwork London's Employment & Skills Training Team are delivering a range of employment contracts across London, assisting people into long term employment through a combination of training, work placement and job brokerage services.

We are seeking a volunteer with a flair for organisation, and an interest in developing their Administrative skills in a busy Welfare-to-Work/Skills Training environment.

The role will be for three days per week, split between our Waterloo and Angel, Islington offices, with a primary focus on providing flexible administrative support to two of our busy employment projects.

Volunteers will gain experience in a fast-paced, candidate centred Welfare-to-Work environment, and have the opportunity to develop administrative systems and processes for the projects in conjunction with the Employment Advisers and Employment & Skills Training Manager.

Volunteers will be integrated as part of the wider Employment & Skills Training team, and if they are actively seeking employment, will receive ongoing support from a team of qualified and extensively experienced employment support professionals to assist with securing paid employment.

If applicants have qualifications below Level 2 - that is, with qualifications lower than 5 GCSEs grades A - C, then we can provide City & Guilds accredited qualifications in either Business Administration or Customer Service. Applicants with qualifications above Level 2 are however welcome to apply, but due to funding restrictions we will be unable to provide accredited training.

Skills & Qualifications Required

No specific experience necessary as training will be provided, but the ability to carry out a variety of administrative tasks such as maintaining filing systems and updating spreadsheets is essential

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel,
  • A methodical approach and passion for organisation
  • Good telephone manner and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and multi-task a definite advantage
  • Committment of three days a week
