This week's featured volunteer opportunity is:

Chelsea Flower Show Reuse Scheme 2013, Groundwork London

Opportunity Description

We are running a project at the Chelsea Flower Show from Sunday 26th May until Wednesday 29th May to gather as many plants and as much landscaping materials as possible from the show gardens and redistribute it to Groundwork's community landscaping projects. Not only will we be helping all these community gardens we are aiming to prevent over 300 tonnes of waste going to landfill. All this has to be accomplished over a four-day period and we can only achieve it with the help of a small army of willing volunteers. We need volunteers to help us gather all these plants from the hundreds of exhibitors on the site. We'll be sharing the site with hundreds of contractors deconstructing their prize winning gardens - you'll be part of team racing against the clock to salvage as much material as possible for deserving community projects across London.

We need you to offer up half a day, either morning or afternoon. Bring your own sturdy footwear or work boots and gardening gloves.

If you are interested in horticulture, you will get the chance to talk to designers and builders of the Chelsea Show Gardens. Though the gardens will be in the process of being deconstructed, you will get the chance to see how they were put together. In return for your hard work, there will be the opportunity to choose a few plants to take away with you.

Shifts are 10:00am - 3:00pm and 12:00pm - 5:00pm.
