Project Volunteers at Tara Arts, Spare Tyre

Opportunity Description

Spare Tyre are looking for a Project Volunteer to assist with our creative workshops for adults with learning disabilities that take place at Tara Theatre in Earlsfield. The workshops focus on Movement.

Project Volunteers assist the workshops leader, tasks include:

  • Ensuring participants arrive and get away for the workshops ok
  • Helping to set up equipment and clear away at the end
  • Taking part fully in the workshops
  • Being sensitive to participants - listening and encouraging their expression
  • Being aware of group dynamics and support participants who are on their own
  • Taking photos

Workshops take place on Wednesdays from 1pm-3pm in 10 week blocks. We are currently looking for a volunteer to support sessions starting 24th April.

Volunteers will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check which will be paid for by Spare tyre.

This is a great opportunity to learn about working creatively with adults with learning disabilities, and to have fun.

Spare Tyre is one of the UK's leading participatory arts companies. We have over 35 years of experience of creating theatre with voiceless communities. Right now we work with people aged 60+, adults with learning disabilities and women who have experienced violence.

Our workshops enable creativity, sharing and risk-taking in a supportive environment.

Skills & Qualifications Required

Volunteers need good communication skills, be a team player, and and ability be sensitive to participants needs.
