Language Buddy / Teaching Assistant at Burntwood School

Volunteers Needed

We have some lovely students who are new to English, and new to education, some of whom arrive in years 8 and 9.They have a huge mountain to climb to quickly improve their English  to be able to get as much as possible from their lessons. Their teachers try hard to make the work accessible for them, but they need lots of extra support to become effective learners and confident young people.
You will be working in small groups or 1 to 1 on activities set by the teachers, translating key words into the home language, accompanying the students to classes to offer additional explanations of the classwork, and other activities supporting the students and their teachers.
We hope that you will be able to come for 1 or more days a week during school hours, for 2 terms or even better for longer so that you can build mutually beneficial relationships with the girls you help
